Color Coding My Life

I’m pretty sure I say this every year, but I am going to be more organized in 2016! I’m determined to get my life together in a way that makes sense to me and that means stickers and pretty colors. You really should have seen that coming.

I know New Year’s Resolutions are saved until the end of December, but I actually start contemplating my goals during Thanksgiving. I use my cooking time to really contemplate all that I’m thankful for and to think about how I can progress during the new year. I sift through each aspect of my life (career, blog, health, finances, marriage, etc.) and look for ways to improve.

I start with a big goal (example: posting 3 times a week for each blog) and break it down in to small manageable tasks. Between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day, I begin to lay down any prep work that can be done for a fresh start in January.

For my goal of posting 3 times a week for each blog, getting my thoughts (i.e. my random notes) organized. It’s not practical for me to carry a notebook for each of my blogs and a planner for actually scheduling posts, so I want to keep all blog related things together in one book. How do I separate Beauty as a Plus separate from Planners & Coffee?

Color Coding! I’ve been using Avery stickers to mark each page for easy reference. If the page is marked green, that’s a page for Planners & Coffee. If it’s pink, that’s Beauty as a Plus. I also use the Avery dots to mark occasions on my calendar or to mark a completed post outline. Coordinating pens also help clear up my monthly calendar view making it easy to find the information I’m looking for.

Do you use a color coding system? And are you already working on your resolutions?
